Carol Lemus joined New York Harm Reduction Educators, Inc. in June 2006 as the Executive Director. Carol has held positions with increasing responsibilities, remaining focused on working with marginalized and underserved populations. Carol has previously worked with Open Door Family Medical Centers, Bronx AIDS Services, Montefiore Medical Center’s Adolescent AIDS Program, New Mexico AIDS Services and National Development and Research Institutes. She has also worked in Central America extensively, designing, implementing and evaluating community health programs in El Salvador. Carol also consults with both National Research and Development Institutes, and the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission of the Organization of American States. Through these contracts, she has developed and delivered training in El Salvador, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and Peru. Carol holds an M.P.H. in International Community Health Education from New York University, 1992 and a BA from Bryn Mawr College, 1983. Carol is fluent in Spanish, having lived over 10 years in Latin America.

Nina Felicia Coleman joined the staff of New York Harm Reduction Educators, Inc. in July 2007 as the Deputy Director. Felicia began her work in this field sixteen years ago when she recognized that the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS was devastating the communities in which she worked and lived. It was her intention to “work from within” to bring about a change. Felicia has worked with numerous populations and has prided herself on meeting the needs of the clients she’s seenelci. Felicia has worked with populations such as; HIV-infected individuals, homeless persons, LGBT and substance users. Felicia has trained both staff and clients on topics that included: HIV 101, cultural sensitivity, partner notification and HIV and Hepatitis C prevention, to name a few. Felicia remains diligent in her commitment to address the needs of disenfranchised individuals. Felicia received her A.S (Para-legal degree) from Bronx Community College, her BA (Human Services) from Metropolitan College of New York and her Masters in Social Work from Fordham University.
